I see some GNOME people realizing the consensus on GNOME is fairly negative, let me be clear on why that is. This doesn't apply to every dev but it's enough that it's viewed as the projects stance.

GNOMECentrism: There are lots of things like xdg-decorations, Freedesktop icon themes, etc which are standards on every other desktop but because they're not adopted in GNOME they're not viewed as "real" standards. Dealing with these arguments over and over again is incredibly draining.
