not sure if that's what you mean, but this reminds me of how every person's thought processes are different:
I have aphantasia, meaning I have a hard time visualizing things/images. If someone told me: "Don't think of a pink elephant now!", I could just go: "Ok."
Same with "audible" thoughts and inner narrator. Some people say they think in images, or abstract concepts. Basically, I hear my thoughts as words and sentences. But it seems like this is just the language part of my brain repeating in words the brain waves that hit it. I could consciously stop that and have "silence", but it doesn't to benefit me and just costs effort.
And then I've read from people who claim that their voice not just spells out their thoughts, but "narrates" every move they make. Somehow I highly doubt that that's somehow induced by our forms of entertainment...
