I always have pen and paper/sticky notes nearby. That way when I have a thought I can immediately jot it down. This leads to tables covered in sticky notes of borderline lunatic ravings but it's a vibe and works better for me than to-do lists alone. Once a week when I clean up I dump all of the notes into scrivner to see if I can harvest any bits of wisdom or inspiration into future writing.
It's not efficient, but I find as long as I'm accepting of that inherent efficiency I am much more productive because I am remaining inspired. Also sometimes I just lean into being unproductive. Rest days are essential and I rest super hard so that I'm not guilting myself over them.
