The issue is not that disposable bags are "OK". It's that everything politicians do in the name of the environment forces all costs, and all expectations about doing the right thing, onto consumers. Then, when it does nothing or make things worse, they blame us. Oh, you should have remembered to bring your reusable bags. You should have done a better job of separating your recycling. You should live in a more walkable city.
