I've just been corrected (to my great pleasure) in my thinking that the above is a run on sentence, which, now that I look at it again, it actually isn't---a correction that brings with it a subtle disharmony between the aspects of myself which wish respectively to rebel and to conform. I can now forgive myself for being loquacious to the point of pretension (because my grammar is OK), but I secretly wish that it had indeed been bad (because that was actually my intention). Woe. Life. Sigh.
