I have this weird relationship where I consider #Erlang / #Elixir to be absolutely best-in-class at robust, distributed systems and I'm fairly good at them (at least Elixir now, I've mostly forgotten raw Erlang), and Elixir really did improve the user experience a LOT, but... it just doesn't spark joy: They're not languages I particularly enjoy writing, or languages that I think very highly of as far as design goes, beyond certain specific characteristics that do help them be best-in-class (like shared-nothing, immutability, pattern matching, etc).

Like, they're good languages, and people really underestimate how fucking amazing they are at getting the job done. But I don't find them fun.
