When you've built something with a computer, it actually resembles a machine. You sit in front of a bunch of switches and dials and you can kind of see the wires and pulleys to the lights and motors and explosives. You at least have the illusion of understanding what pulling the lever in front of you will do and people who like computers spend their whole live getting good at predicting how this mess of wires in front of them will react. And can rely on this knowledge.
