#Ukraine poet Vasyl Stus
- Enough blood, - the torturer declared,
When the knife was still driven under my ribs,
Stuck in my back.
And I thought, all wincing with pain:
What if he decides
To be my doctor as well?
Stus was a poet, writer, translator and human rights activist, for which he spent years in Soviet prisons. On the wave of glasnost he was still jailed in Perm-36 penal colony, where he died in 1985.
