I hardly ever bother to complain about inhaled allergens anymore, but OH LAWD, the goddamn blackberries are having a very good year.
I always feed the critters very first thing after I roll out of bed: fresh wet food for the cats, then outside to feed the equines, baby ravens, and chickens, and to grab two or three types of greens for the inside cat, rabbits, and guineas. It sounds like a lot, but it’s just one circuit around the house, basically. I pick up supplies in the barn, free the chickens and lead them through the garden, grab the fresh greens as we go, and then I’m back inside where the coffee and pills are. I don’t bother taking my antihistamine first, because it won’t kick in til I’m back inside. I just grab a mask if the air is bad.
I knew the air was bad this morning, and I slapped on my flomask before I went out. By the time I made it to the garden with the chicken parade, my eyes were streaming. I staggered in the house 45 seconds later with tears and snot streaming down my face. I wasn’t even breathing it! My body just freaked tf out about eyeball pollen! FML!
Now that I’ve had coffee and meds (and half a box of tissues, in the double-air-filters room), I should be able to go outside for up to an hour at a time, as long as I mask the entire time.
I hate it. I hate locking myself away in a fan-humming room when the whole world is out there, full of drama and birds and flowers— oh, right. 🤧
It’ll probably be Pollen Season right up until Smoke Season starts. Smoke “just” triggers ptsd anxiety, which isn’t as crippling as the pollen snot fountain - at least I can still see! - but I’m not in any hurry to experience that again either.
