Last Christmas Eve, I did not realise where platform 8b was until too late. It is about a kilometre away* from other platforms. Legged it with all my stuff only to see train pulling away from platform just as I got to gate. No alternative transport to destination for hours. Entertained myself until next train by going up and down to Sallins train station on a slow train for the lols. Warmer too.
*may not actually be 1km.
