When I was having trouble with the names for my main characters in my upcoming publication, progress ground to a halt while I sorted it out. I couldn’t have handled giving them placeholder names and changing them at the end.

I’m writing a procrastination book right now, trying to get the first draft out of my head really quickly so I can get back to my 2024 works, so haven’t named one of the main characters yet despite being 25% through. I can see it affecting his character development so I’m going to pause this weekend and christen the poor bastard so he can have a personality 😊
