i associate "we both apologize to each other unnecessarily" with the midwestern u.s. because that's what i am and where i'm from. do you know of another place this is the good-natured stereotype of local people? the apologies have to be both genuine AND unnecessary. not like how english people say "sorry?" to mean like "excuse me?" haha
