You know, Primal is just Nostr. They aren't their own platform. I am replying to you on Primal right now, even though you are obviously using some other client. So they can't be that centralized if we can interact with each other despite the fact that we are using entirely different clients. Primal is obviously not a walled garden.

Yes, when you sign up they automatically follow several accounts based on the things you said you were interested in, but you can unfollow any you don't like, and follow anyone else you would prefer. They do this just so new users don't have an empty feed when they first join.

They also have a TON of feed options to customize what you want to see, including the ability to build your own custom feed algorithm, by turning advanced searches into feeds.

The two biggest issues I have are:

1. There is no way to read from your preferred relays directly. You can only read from their caching relay, or replace it with another caching relay, and no one else runs one.

2. You can only log into their mobile apps by pasting in your nsec. There is no way to use an external signer like Amber.
