I was there for the photo shoot, but I can't remember why. I'd already moved on to working as an assistant with Scavullo. In fact I was already starting to work mostly on my own. Avedon was my first photography mentor, and Grace Mirabella was intensely interested in my photography career and my clothing design talents. She knew of my former involvement with Avedon, and maybe requested my presence.
