well, if i had oodles of hashpower and a 15 year time horizon i'd probably consider trying to bulid a farm to mine an old coin

the thing is that because of the increasing price, the average size of UTXOs that are new is declining against the ones that haven't been active for increasing numbers of years

so it just seems to me like that's how it would play out... at first as we get within the 30 year horizon a very few would try it, mostly at a loss, for a decade or more, but then as the events start to stack up people would go "ok, security needs an upgrade"
