Already commentators (and the Govt) are quick to suggest benefits & other aspects of the public sector will need to be cut to fund expanding national security needs.
Its alway benefits to the poor & vulnerable that will be cut, not widespread corporate welfare... why?
One answer is corporate welfare takes the form of tax income foregone & so requires shifting tax profiles (which takes time). Benefits can be cut quicker!
