I find it hard to blame people for their actions 10, 7, or even 5 years ago unless it's wildly egregious (e.g. murder, rape). If there is a clear path of growth for the person I'd rather judge them on their better self. I know I was pretty cringe in my formative years.
Of course, this all goes out the window if someone else expands that window beyond those years and starts digging crap up.
