Good morning and happy Friday, lovely friends!
I’m very used to having to handle lots of things by myself - because I had to - and today I am realizing that maybe I can and should sometimes just relax and let other people do the figuring out. Part of the frustration (at this age and amongst my peers) is that as women we were sold the idea that not only could you do anything but you should do it all (which leads to totally undesirable and impossible results (burnout, resentment, etc). I think role flexibility is important because we aren’t neat boxes (I.e. my great grandmother was excellent at fixing neighbor’s toasters but a terrible cook) but I also think that doing it all, or doing it alone, is deeply unhealthy. And sometimes, I think we need help find out way back from the social currents that have sold us on a notion of hyper independence.
