1st: plain old human psychology prevents people from finding better answers. There are studies. It's just how we are; we find something that appears to work & we stop looking for other options. That's just human.
2nd: there's such a high variance in human minds and demeanors that we require many different methodologies to get to the same place. To paint all religion w/ so broad a brush is to fall prey to the same fallacy religious folk do.
No silver bullets, no panaceas.
