I do agree with the plugin issue, Look at scheduler "plugins".

But overall Kubernetes has the benefit that you can replace most controllers and components by just writing your own. While not needed to implement everything yourself.

E.g. Want to replace the deployment controller? Tell the kube-controller manager that someone else takes care of that now, and start your own implementation, done.
