I found another fascinating item as I go through the papers of the late CBS News correspondent Richard C. Hottelet. He managed to hook up with the Russians as they advanced on Berlin in WWII. Some of them wrote him a souvenir note after one gathering during which he told me a lot of vodka was consumed.
