It's probably a problem that a lot of mainstream liberal organizations are run by middle class, more affluent, and often older white people who have the time and money to spend on these projects instead of having to make ends meet, making it difficult for them to understand the people in need they're supposedly trying to help. But it probably does explain why they think so many basic, sensible policy ideas like UBI are just wishful thinking and "unicorns."
