When we were quite small my parents decided to practically live off-grid in deepest rural Wales. Water from a spring, filtered through several pairs of mum's stockings, coal and wood to heat and to cook with, though it was a proper Rayburn/Aga style of cooking range, chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, lots of veg dad grew and being snowed in for months every winter was an absolute ball for us kids. I cried non-stop when we moved.
