Income inequality is usually what is attacked rather than wealth. This is because the labor theory of value holds a strong place in the regular psyche. They mean wealth but say income as a Motte and Bailey tactic. You're right though, that the difference in preferences and price elasticity allows for the lower ends to benefit from price discrimination.
