I spent the first 1.5 years of the pandemic before vaccinations were available just doing without a lot of things, because I didn't want to put other people at risk. (I actually wound up foraging for wild plants for food at one point.)

Since then I've discovered that everyone I wanted to protect was going to brunch, conferences and concerts the whole time. Which has left me with some complex feelings.
