Most of the time, yes. Especially with erotica, that kind of visceral, in-the-moment, how-does-it-feel writing is very effective.
But like any writing 'rule' it should be treated with a pinch of salt. Show-don't-tell works for achieving a specific effect. It will not succeed if you want to do something else, eg creating a fairytale feel. Sometimes you WANT distance.>
