Yep, quite a possibility. But right now, they don't even need to. Many of the attacks are successfully done by social engineering. Someone calls you and tell that you kid ha s an serious accident at school, is now in hospital and wait for urgent money transfer to do some medical procedure. Or someone calls to say that they're from the state security apparatus, they know something about you and want some money for this and that, or ask you to show part of your personal info to "prove that it's you" to that 'officer'. Stuffs like that are rampant and wildly successful. Victims have been known to pay from equi. a few hundred USD up to hundred thousands USD.

The point is biometrics wouldn't even solve that. Victims will be scammed as before, and they'll make the money transfer themselves.
