You might enjoy Ye Tao's perspective. I do. The immediate problem is warming, so he is focused on mitigating that w/ solutions that don't require a lot of oil. The focus on renewables and carbon capture derails this a bit.
I used to be a "silver bullet" kind of technical optimist, but started attending energy transition meetings in 2011. The first meeting was in a building much like the support group meeting room in Fight Club for the cancer survivors.
