Everything and its dog was either grimdark and kitty-litter-gritty or was twisted into that. Once-hopeful SF like Star Trek has been systematically turned into the manifestation of clinical depression. The entire genre of superhero comics has been turned into costumed psychopaths (even, sometimes *especially*!, the \"good guys\"). Everything is bleak and depraved.",
