If the core issue is the knowledge of how to build a piece of firearm and them being widely available, then again, there's nothing special about 3D printers. Those 3D models don't need a 3D printer to be realized. You don't even need a commercial quality 3D printer to produce them. Pieces of wood and plastic plus some means of cutting also does the job.
