Just finished the book "Son of the Black sword." Heard about it randomly the other day, apparently the last book of the series is being dedicated to George RR Matin with the text "See, it's not so hard"
Definitely worth checking out. The world building is really spectacular, it starts out fantasy like but - without spoilers - there's a lot more about the world that slowly gets elaborated on. There's also a lot of political intrigue, although it's a bit slow to start, and the characters feel really fleshed out and unique.
Definitely with a read/listen.
