I had to think today of a passage from "The Bitcoin Standard," where Ammous explained the influence of the fiat system on art, alongside family and technological innovations. In earlier times, artists needed years of honed craftsmanship to create masterpieces that survived for centuries. They bled and sweated for it under the gold standard.

And how today we produce a pile of crap in comparison. Our music is crap, our paintings are crap, our buildings are ugly and our texts are crap. And what we spew out on the internet is the crap of crap. Texts with as much depth as a puddle. Art that has degenerated into memes. Just take a look at the "artists" presenting their primitive drawings here in their introduction notes. My 10-year-old makes better pictures in 10 minutes.

Shouldn't we Bitcoiners adopt a different attitude, in line with our low time preference? Or does this mindset only return when we fully embrace the Bitcoin standard? In any case, simply hodling Bitcoin in an otherwise fiat-surrounded life is not enough. The low time preference must lead to our family relationships being fixed, the number of 0-to-1 innovations increasing, and our artworks outliving us. Otherwise, we haven't truly felt Bitcoin at all. We have only hoarded it greedily.
