I've been looking for a post like this recently because I think it may greatly resonate with content creators/artists on nostr.

V4V is beautiful and just as you succinctly put it, your wallet amount shows when you are providing value versus consuming value. If your sats count is staying about the same you are equally consuming as much as you're providing content. On a grander scale- in the economy, the concept is the same if you consume more than you provide value to the world you go into debt.

As NOSTR is a place where we can have fun and enjoy one another it sometimes seems like a lighter issue than what goes on in the "greater" economy but this is our glimpse to the future right here!

I love to write, that's my art. I hope to one day gain a net profit from nostr as more and more people discover my art and send me sats as a big fat thank you.

One day, after much effort growing my audience and getting the people what they want, I might come out with a profit where I can not only use my sats from nostr as fun money but actively stack it too.

I think that might be where you're going with this, right?

When I first came on Nostr about 7 months ago, TheNoshole (npub1ymt…pxnz) you were posting a ton and I saw your notes get a ton of love from zaps.

I see people care about you and actively follow you for who you are and how you engage with nostr, even though you may never have actively set out to be a "content creator" people on nostr like your content that much.

I guess thats a long winded way of saying V4V is very real and its very effective but its no silver bullet. No one should expect to get showered with sats right from the start even though that's kind of what happens when people join with their #introduction note.

There's kind of a rollercoaster ride. You start on nostr and people shower you with welcome love for joining, but then the work starts (if you hope for a profit to stack) otherwise keeping it steady by putting out what you consume is the way to go and there ain't nothin' wrong with that!
