You would think that fifteen years(!!) after the Model S completely upending the market car makers would have realized that they are no longer producing hardware, they are making a tightly coupled hardware and software stack, and it seems the only thing they have taken (with grabby hands) from the software industry is "pay a monthly subscription for shitty non-features and features that should come standard only available through a crappy app".
Except this time, it's not a $500 console or $1000 TV does this but a multiple-ten-thousand dollars worth entertainment system rolling on four wheels.
