Big week for markets. FOMC rate cut decision this Wednesday at 1PM CST.
The market is currently pricing 50bps of cuts, so 2 cuts, for this meeting, but it’s far from consensus. Fed Funds Futures show a 59% probability of a 50bps cut vs 41% for 25bps.
General consensus is 4 cuts before year-end, in which case 2-1-1 cuts makes the most sense. This has caused the market to shift to expecting two on Wednesday, up from expecting only one from just last week.
Stay safe out there.
