I hear people talk about the end of the world as if (1) there was only one and (2) it was known which one will win out.

Only J. R. "Bob" Dobbs and his Church of the SubGenius can make sure world ends properly. The improper ends of the world might take a lot longer, and be not only more dangerous but more foolish and ugly than the one we have in mind.
