Avoiding seemingly benign tasks because they make you uncomfortable will often cause your lizard brain to subconsciously categorize as threats which ought to be feared.

Why? We evolved to avoid threats as a survival tactic, which may help you survive when you are running away from a predator, but it’s a terrible strategy almost all non-life threatening situations.

For example:

Putting off unpacking your luggage after a trip reinforces a fear of unpacking luggage 🤡🧠 to overcome it, ask yourself what about unpacking makes it uncomfortable: is it sorting clean clothes from dirty ones? Think of a strategy so this isn’t a problem: consider them all clean or all dirty and throw them in the washing machine. Or take a dirty clothes bag on your trip and put laundry there as clothes are used so there’s nothing to sort. The goal is to be mindful of what makes a task uncomfortable so you can identify a solution and thus avoiding the lizard brain traps.
