Salaries are also out of whack, but that's due in large part to most companies wanting developers at all levels to do 2 or 3 jobs. They even expect that out of associates straight out of college, which is insane. And the higher one rises, the more they are expected to do. The job descriptions don't change, they just become cumulative.
High tech salaries are a smokescreen for exploiting tech workers to do the work of 3 people.
