Those who claim great arts have died, that the patience to craft even those one will not live to see completed have died, that monuments of meaning have died, need to stretch out more. This is the monument to Crazy Horse in South Dakota. It's been under carving since 1948. It faces Mount Rushmore and is a tribute to the Lakota legend, standing in defiance of the conquering tribe that rules (collective) us to this day. The carving out of the mountain was started by Korczak Ziolkowski who was the same carver who did Rushmore. 77 years ago and still going, having continued past the artist and many tribal leaders. It is funded by individuals who stand in defiance of rulers despite overwhelming odds.
Ultimately it will be bigger than Rushmore.
