Hey Fedi, I need info about the legal ramifications of moving an older family member into an attached ADU in the state of Washington! How do we set this up correctly and fairly for everyone involved - do we make the ADU a legal separate dwelling or can it just stay “the basement suite?” Should the family member pay (nominal) rent to us? How should she insure her stuff - under our umbrella or under some other kind of policy? Surely there’s a good, recent article somewhere about this! Boosts very appreciated, thanks y’all!
(This is the kind of thing I used to just look up online, but that’s gone downhill so fast I wouldn’t trust the search results anymore.)
