It was long assumed that intestinal epithelial cells were the target of noroviruses. It turns out that that's not true for some strains, perhaps even all. It's really going after Peyer's Patches. Lots of noroviruses so I want to be careful about blanket statements regarding tropism, but given the way they're armored out it makes a ton of sense.

Covid definitely weakens Peter's Patches. Tears 'em right up:
