Before getting into the data, we should take note of a few things. Firstly, PCR copy number is related to viral load, but it isn't *exactly* the same thing. In particular, nidoviruses such as coronaviruses make subgenomic RNAs, so the RNA you measure with RT-PCR can affect the copy number.
