Since firearms are virtually outlawed and illegal to use for self defense, the weapon of choise became cutlery.
Cutlery needed to be registered!
So, you could use a gardening tool - the Machete as it did not need to be registered as cutlery.
Now the gangs use machete's for their fights.
Most peopple simply want cutlery in their homes to cut meat and vegetables.
This is classic gubmint 'protecting' people with ever dumber solutions to government's problems.
