**Missing senior citizen in Kluang could have fallen into drain, say police**
**KLUANG**: A senior citizen, who was reported missing after attending a tea reception yesterday evening, is believed to have fallen into a drain at Jalan Ismail here.
Kluang District Police Chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Nor said following a report lodged, police launched an investigation this morning, which included checking nearby closed-circuit televisions (CCTV).
The CCTV footage at the Eng Choon Association building showed a glimpse of someone falling into a big drain near Sungai Mengkibol at about 4.15 pm yesterday, he said.
“The search operation by the police, fire and rescue team, and Civil Defence Force covered the drain and the bottom of Sungai Mengkibol.
“The victim is believed to have fallen into the drain after stumbling over a water-filled hole due to the flash floods last night,“ he told reporters after surveying the operation control centre in Kampung Palembang here yesterday.
Bahrin said the search spanned three kilometres downstream of Sungai Mengkibol with three police boats and a fire and rescue department boat.
“Due to bad weather we stopped the search at 6.30 pm today and will resume at 8 am tomorrow,“ he said.
Meanwhile, Kluang Fire and Rescue Station, Operations Commander Mohd Fauzi Md Nor said the operation involved eight personnel, a Fire Rescue Team vehicle, an Emergency Services Assistance Unit, and a fibre boat.
Earlier, a retiree from the Special Forces Group, Ab Manan Keri, 73, dressed in the Commando Veterans Club uniform, was reported to have not returned home after attending the ‘Jamuan Teh Bersama Rakyat’ at Dataran Tasik Kluang here. - _Bernama_
