TIL that during the shooting of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" a crewmember dropped a special wide-angle lens into a tank of molten chocolate.
He destroyed a $600k lens and the production had to be delayed until a new one could be flown in. Between the lens and the production delay, it added $1 million to the production cost.
