I am hereby announcing that birds.town will be defederating from Threads later today. I hadn't yet done so because I am not a fan of cutting folk off from their friends that they have on another platform, but I cannot with good conscience allow users from a platform whose moderation policies now - among many other things - allow calling me and others like me "mentally ill" (or worse) simply because of our gender, our identities or sexual orientation to interact with and see posts from my Mastodon instance.

I am very sorry if this affects you personally because you have friends that are on Threads. I encourage you to try and convince them to join some Mastodon (or other Fediverse) instance. Later today, you will no longer be able to interact with them from your birds.town account.
