Internet privacy advocates are a bit extreme at times. they're so eager to make companies like Google or Facebook out as villains that, even when they try to take a step in the right direction, it's bad.
they're companies whose products are popular, but could not exist without targeted advertising.
as i understand it, Google is introducing an API that would mean *less* centralised tracking is necessary to target ads.
okay, you want an ad-free Internet? let's see you and every Internet user pay for every commercial website you use then. ah, right, that's right, we all want free shit. never mind then.
