People may shy away from conflict when they are /personally involved/, but watch Joe watch Boxing on TV: he shouts "kill him!" without a twinge of conscience. The politicians are NOT NEAR, so it's like a game of rock'em sock'em robots with no personal investment by the viewers except to want to see one's "side" win. Moreover, as we see online, very many people are content to say quite vicious things about each other: so you're thinking what people will do when others can WATCH their behavior. Those tending to trolldom online relish anonymity.
I don't want to hear "taxes are a market distortion" as if "the market" has rights that supersede human rights. I've seen the diagrams too, how taxes disincent consumption. Answer? Who gives a shit. Taxes are necessary and I'm a bazillion miles (say, a few parsecs) away from being a Libertarian. Economics DOES NOT TELL YOU WHAT TO DO. That's POLITICS. What Economics tells you is WHAT YOUR CHOICES WILL COST. So the "taxes must be eliminated" stuff is horseshit. IMO. As I said: all the shit we WANT? TAXES PAY FOR THEM.
Humans should reject living in a society that does not put human needs first.
Also (since we're having so much fun) I think /the profit motive/ is for shit.
