Not like the US government commissioned a memory-safe (and more) language in 1980 and commissioned a FOSS compiler for it to stop the ecosystem stagnating in the early 90s, and then just abandoned using it themselves because everyone complained about not being able to buy off-the-shelf software written in unsafe languages. And then the government instantly forgot safe languages exist until magically rediscovering them now
