Early crime scene reports noted that the TV remote was on the floor, having been removed from its station on the small table by the side of the sofa. The battery cover was nearby, and one battery was missing.

The battery was listed as missing presumed gone, and was replaced. The missing battery was later found in another room, placed carefully on a tote bag.

The suspect has been playing with a plastic spring for the last half hour and had no comment on the battery.
